TBI Health was first opened as the Wakefield Back Institute in 2000 by the Minister of Health, Annette King. The clinic was one of the most first multi-disciplinary, private practice facilities in New Zealand to help people with back and neck problems.

The concept was a success and over the past 10 years we have continued to develop and expand our clinical services and health professional team.  In 2005, our company changed its name to TBI Health –‘Integrated Rehabilitation Professionals’ to reflect the increasing range of health services that are provided within our clinics.

The Back Institute programme still remains as a core service at TBI Health and we continue to develop and provide extensive and effective treatment for back and neck pain.   Our company now also provides comprehensive assessment and treatment for muscle and joint problems, sports injuries, pain and discomfort at work, orthopaedic surgery, foot problems and exercise and vocational performance.

To meet the rehabilitation needs of the community, we have also developed a private Hospital and Community rehabilitation team and our new Vocational Rehabilitation team provides professional assessment and intervention services to help reduce the impact of injury in the workplace.
